BMES President’s Initiative Fund
This discretionary fund that allows for the BMES President and Executive Committee to address issues facing BMES members and the field in general. Use of the fund may include:
- Special topic summits (e.g.- education, policy, diversity)
- K-12 outreach
- New initiatives such as partnerships, new special interest groups, and policy initiatives
BMES Unrestricted Discretionary Fund
Your generous contribution will enable us to serve our 6,000+ members by providing our membership with things such as:
- Student travel awards for meetings
- Student design and educational innovation support
- Travel awards for participants of partnering programs and organizations
Athanasiou Endowment Fund
The Athanasious will match donations to the Athanasiou Endowment Fund up to $50,000. This funding will benefit the continued awards of the BMES Athanasiou Medal of Excellence in Translational Bioengineering along with the aim of establishing more awards for student support.
Linda Griffith & Douglas Lauffenburger Endowment
Young investigators attending the BMES Annual Meeting are eligible to receive a $500 grant from the Linda Griffith & Douglas Lauffenburger Endowment fund.
Established in 2025 by BMES Robert A. Pritzker Distinguished Lectureship Award recipient Linda Griffith her husband, former BMES President Douglas Lauffenburger – both MIT professors – the grant provides childcare support for early career investigators who are balancing parenthood and early career challenges.
In 2025, 10 applicants will be selected to receive support through this fund to help make participation in the BMES conference
